There’s still time to nominate someone for a Basildon Borough Volunteer Award

Do you know someone who gives up their free time to help worthy causes? Make sure they get the recognition they deserve by nominating them for a Basildon Borough Volunteer Award before the closing date of Wednesday 18 September.

The Basildon Borough Volunteer Awards 2019, sponsored for the second year running by Pinnacle PSG, recognise the amazing achievements and contributions that volunteers make across the Basildon borough. It could be someone who cares for a loved one, runs a community group or works in a charity shop.

The Mayor of Basildon, Cllr David Burton-Sampson, said: “Every day, volunteers across the borough give up their free time to create opportunities and improve the lives of others – whether that’s raising money for charity, serving tea at the local day centre of giving advice and support to those in need.

These awards give us an opportunity to shine a light on these selfless individuals and thank them for their efforts to make our borough a better place to live. I would urge anyone who knows a deserving individual to make a nomination for an award.”

Everyone nominated for an award, and their special guests, will be invited to a prestigious Volunteer Awards Ceremony at Woodlands School, Basildon on the evening of Wednesday 30 October 2019. Winners in each category will be presented with a trophy, a certificate of appreciation and a prize voucher by the Mayor of Basildon and the award category sponsors.

The categories for this year’s awards are:

  • The Sunshine Award 11-21yrs (up to 25 years if additional needs)
  • Community Star (21 years old and above)
  • Inspirational Role Model Award
  • Fundraising Champion
  • Long Service Award
  • Voluntary Group/Project of the Year Award

If you know someone you believe deserves a pat on the back for their outstanding volunteer work, then this is your chance to see they get the recognition they deserve.
