JUNGLE STAR RITA SIMONS CROWNED ‘BEST ACTRESS’ IN BRITFLIX BRITISH INDIE FILM AWARDS

Fresh from her return from the I’m A Celebrity… jungle Rita Simons has picked up the ‘Best Actress’ award at the inaugural ‘Brindies’ – the British Indie Film Awards by the Britflix website.

Rita won for her star turn as Lisa Prescott in The Krays – Dead Man Walking, which was the biggest non-theatrical British film of 2018. The film also picked up 3 other awards including Best Supporting Actor for Bill legend Chris Ellison.

Best Film went to Final Score, the ‘Die Hard in a football stadium’ action movie directed by Scott Mann and starring Pierce Brosnan and WWE icon Dave Bautista who picked up Best Actor. Another former WWE star, Stu Bennett (known in the ring as Bad News Barrett) picked up Best Newcomer for his leading roles in films such as Fanged Up and Vengeance.

Other winners included former Eastenders stars Martine McCutcheon (Best Supporting Actress – The Bromley Boys) and Craig Fairbrass, who was recognised for his contribution to Brit indie films with the Britflix Legend award. Fairbrass stars in the incredibly popular Rise of the Footsoldier franchise which continues to be a home entertainment goldmine.
