Free weekend parking will be reinstated in council-owned car parks from next month.
The Leisure, Culture and Environment Committee agreed to revoke fixed charges of 50p for up to an hour and £1 for all day parking when it met on Wednesday 13 June.
The changes will come into effect from Saturday 7 July, with free parking to be available in the following car parks:
- Billericay High Street, Billericay
- Radford Crescent, Billericay
- Wickford Main Car Park, Wickford
- Wickford Ladygate, Wickford
- Wickford Pool, Wickford
An historical £7 charge for Billericay High Street car park before 9.30am will remain in place to deter all day parking and free up spaces for short-term use by shoppers.
