Quailors, the first ever LGBTQ+ group for people who work in the tailoring industry, is set to host a party at the London Academy of Bespoke on Savile Row on Friday 4th of July from 18:00-22:00 and march in this year’s PRIDE parade on the 5th of July 2025 in Central London.
Quailors was set up in 2020 by Andrew Johnson and James MacAuslan to build a network and safe community for LGBTQ+ people who work in the tailoring industry. The community has fast become a melting pot of ideas, opportunities, and support for people of all ages with a passion for tailoring. The average age of its members is 25, a testament to the strong network which has been created for a new young generation in tailoring.
In the five years since Quailors was formed the community has developed through regular meet ups and constant communication through the group message board, culminating in events around Pride in London and marching in the parade itself.
In 2022, Quailors made history as the first-ever representation of the tailoring trade at Pride in London—bringing visibility to a craft that has too often remained silent on matters of inclusion and identity. This year they are shining a spotlight on the transgender community with a suggested parade dress code in the colours of the trans flag.
As the tailoring trade continues to evolve, Quailors remains dedicated to fostering a space where all identities are celebrated, and every stitch contributes to a more inclusive future.
“Quailors want to showcase that we will continue to stand, and march, with those whose human rights are being challenged and diminished.”
“The success of Quailors and its ever-growing network, paired with the enthusiasm of its members, shows that the future of the trade is a bright one, which will be fundamentally improved by the existence of the group and those within it.”
Jenny Casebourne, Head of Portfolio at The Pollen Estate comments:
“The Pollen Estate is proud to be supporting the Quailors again this year, an organisation that champions inclusivity in the tailoring industry and brings together the community to celebrate Pride in London. We are delighted they are returning to Savile Row to host their Pre-Pride event.”
