Distinguished guests joined the Mayor of Colchester, Councillor Robert Davidson, and his wife, Liz Davidson, the Mayoress, for a sumptuous night of dinner, dancing and fundraising on Saturday, 24 April.

The Mayor’s Farewell Bash was the first major fundraising event for The Mayor’s Charities Fund that has been able to take place during The Mayor’s time in office, due to the restrictions caused by the Covid pandemic.

Hosted in the Moot Hall of Colchester’s Town Hall, The Mayor’s Farewell Bash featured a ‘Best of British’ theme and included a special appearance from Sir Winston Churchill lookalike, Neil Heward. Sponsors of the event included Lion Walk, The George Colchester and KAT Marketing.
The Mayor’s Farewell Bash also marked one of The Mayor’s final engagements before his term of office ends in May 2022.

Guests were treated to a delicious four-course meal catered for by The Event Catering Company, while entertainment included live music from Better Than Your Boyfriend and an auction with lots such as the chance to take a spin in The Mayor’s E-Type Jaguar.

Close to £5,000 was raised on the night for The Mayor’s Charities Fund, which will share proceeds between East Anglia’s Children Hospice, Essex & Herts Air Ambulance, Rural Community Council of Essex, SSAFA the Armed Forces charity, St Helena Hospice and the Samaritans.

Commenting on the event, The Mayor of Colchester, Cllr Robert Davidson, said: “It was wonderful to finally be able to host The Mayor’s Farewell Bash and raise money for these amazing charities. I want to say a sincere thank you to all of those who supported the event. The money raised for The Mayor’s Charities Fund will help make a big difference to the people of Colchester.”
