The Royal Hospital School (RHS) in Holbrook, Suffolk, is celebrating this week after receiving the highest grading possible and was judged to meet or exceed all regulatory standards. RHS was inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), the regulatory body for independent schools, who commended the school for realising ‘its aim to enable pupils to grow into the person they wish to become, fulfilling their potential and leaving very well prepared for life’.

Simon Lockyer, Headmaster at Royal Hospital School, said: “We are delighted that the Royal Hospital School has once again achieved the highest grading possible, an exceptional achievement for all involved. This is testament to our excellent staff team and the continuing strength of support from parents. This is particularly pleasing as it has been achieved against the background of the pandemic over the last two years.”

The School received an ‘Excellent’ rating for the two key outcomes of the Educational Quality Inspection. The ISI commended the school in particular for its use of ICT, commenting: “Pupils’ ICT skills are excellent and they are highly adept at using digital technology to support and extend their learning.” RHS was recently named as an Edtech 50 school for the second time, one of only a handful of schools in the UK, acknowledging the effective use of education technology to support learning and teaching.

Other comments included: “Pupils’ attitudes to learning are excellent; they develop intellectual curiosity and academic confidence.”

“Pupils are excellent communicators, fluent and poised.”

“The excellent range of extra-curricular activities is a major factor in pupils’ enjoyment of school.”
