Charities across the country are celebrating the start of UK Charity Week (#UKCharityWeek).

#UKCharityWeek, which is this year sponsored by TheGivingMachine, is a campaign designed to give the people of the United Kingdom an opportunity to place awareness and fundraising for charities high on the national agenda, at a time of the year when people are statistically at their most giving.

#UKCharityWeek is always held within the first full week of December.

UK Charity Week founder Lee Rayment
Lee Rayment, the founder of #UKCharityWeek, said:

“There is a real sense on our streets that society and community spirit in the UK has taken a big hammering with so much negative media and other influences taking its toll on morale. This year, we want to work to bridge that divide and to remind people that our communities cannot thrive without unity, and here we have so many charities playing a pivotal role on our behalf.

“I hope that come to the end of the campaign that people can see that unity is the way forward, not hate or division. There’s a lot we are not in control of, but how we choose to respond is 100% within our control. Let’s put our differences aside and show what can be done by working together.”
