Tiptree based Perrywood Garden Centre is dedicated to providing customers with opportunities to learn new skills and find inspiration for their homes and gardens. On Saturday 2 March, the award winning garden centre will be hosting two workshops, the art of mounting and fixing a staghorn fern and the decorative skill of macramé knotting.

Perrywood’s 90-minute mounted staghorn fern workshop is ideal for houseplant enthusiasts. These unusual tropical plants do not need soil to grow and create an eye-catching addition to the home. Starting at 11am the workshop is hosted by interior design expert Victoria Hellum, Owner and Founder of Plant Joy. Attendees will learn how to mount and fix staghorn ferns on a wooden board, creating a completely bespoke piece of living wall art. Victoria will also share advice on how to look after and care for the plant to ensure it thrives for years to come.

Later in the day at 2pm, Victoria will be holding a workshop on the art of macramé knotting. As a popular interiors trend for 2019, macramé knotting offers a beautiful way to display houseplants throughout the home. The technique is not only incredibly therapeutic it is also extremely versatile.

The two-hour workshop will teach attendees how to use macramé rope to create basic knots for a unique handmade plant hanger. The workshop also includes a stylish Elho pot and plant to take home.

Tickets for each workshop are available on the Perrywood website and are priced at £40 which includes all materials.

Zoe Willis, Houseplants Team Leader at Perrywood, says: “At Perrywood we’re always on the lookout for the latest trends for interiors and the garden.
