REVIEW: Turtle bay, Chelmsford

With summer on the horizon, there are new summer flavours to go with this! A recent trip to Turtle Bay in Chelmsford proved equally as intriguing as a trip to the Caribbean.

Greeted by groovy and fun loving staff at the door, It was due to be an evening of excitement in heart of Chelmsford’s town centre. With an island bar in the middle of the restaurant I got the action started with a few drinks.

For pre-drinks it was GOOMBAY SMASH which is Cockspur rum, Koko Kanu coconut rum, apricot liqueur, bitters, shaken with orange & pineapple, very well thought out drink with an exciting mixture of fruit flavours to tickle the tongue and with my meal it only felt right to order the PEANUT BUTTER & BANANA SMOOTHY and this went down a treat.

Starting out with OKRA LADIES’ FINGERS to wet my appetite I opted for the all new mains BAJAN BEEF CHEEKS which is basically slowly simmered beef cheeks marinated in Caribbean spice, okra, potato, garlic, ginger, star anise, cinnamon, coriander & toasted coconut. Served with steamed rice & roti flatbread and YES it was every bit as delicious as advertised.

The Verdict: 4/5

“An intriguing new offering, extending the opulent Caribbean vibes that Turtle bay already offered”
