Bingo has undergone quite the transformation over the last decade. Way back in 2018, it was reported that hipsters were spurring on the new bingo trend, even to the extent that they’d replace the “problematic” number calls. Later, with people seeking to enjoy live experiences more, nightclub-style events took off.
Coupled with some other significant moves for the classic game, bingo night is now a hotly anticipated event. It’s a clear-cut, low-cost game that doesn’t require any particular level of skill or knowledge to enjoy. Its accessibility is helping to power it back to prominence, and this summer, Essex will play host to two of its biggest new names.
Expanding to Be More Accessible
There’s now a UK National Bingo Week, and during this, people across the country pile into bingo halls, join community bingo events, and play the classic lotto game in its newer formats. Apparently spurred on by social media, the industry is booming again and continues to welcome new players.
The fact that it’s catching on in its many different new formats has even spurred on the kind of classic bingo angle for those who want to return to the game. This is an angle being pushed with seaside bingo offerings, such as those across Norfolk. Here, the aim is to replicate the format that powered the game in its prime.
Across this slate, you’ve got modern bingo hall games, classic seaside bingo, themed bingo nights, and the big bombastic nightclub events. Then, there’s also the array of bingo games available online. Like the game overall in its resurgence, online bingo embraces many themes and ideas, from low-price tickets to Britain’s Got Talent bingo.
Key to all of this is that bingo has become a lot more diverse and a lot more accessible. Where once it garnered a reputation, somewhat unfairly, for being just for older people, it’s now seen as a fun game for all. The different themes online and in-person certainly help to propel this depiction.
Big Bingo Nights Coming to Essex Soon

The bombastic bingo bonanza begins on 8 August at 6 Moulsham Street in Chelmsford. On this day, Bingo Loco will make its return to the county to deliver another big night of bingo, prizes, and 90s-00s bangers. Doors open at 5 pm and the show concludes at 9:30 pm that Saturday.
Each of the tables seats up to ten players, and from there, you can enjoy the whole show. Prizes on offer with the bingo nightclub-style offering include lawnmowers, giant teddy bears, and holidays amidst the random other rewards. In between the dance-offs, host bits, and bingo, you’ll be swimming in the confetti showers.
After Bingo Loco’s arrival, you don’t have to wait long for another hit nightclub bingo experience. Bongo’s Bingo will come to Circus Tavern in Purfleet on 12 September. Expect bingo, cash rewards, dance-off, raves, cheesy singalongs, and a crazy assortment of other prizes throughout the evening.
Bingo is back and buzzing, and over the summer, Essex will be treated to two of the game’s most popular new touring events.
