A NEW website is being launched to showcase some of the Tendring district’s finest independent businesses.
tendringmade.co.uk shines a light on more than 40 businesses which play a crucial role in the district’s economic success.
The new website has been designed to bring information about these businesses into one place so it can be easily accessed by residents and visitors alike.
This website celebrates companies which offer imagination, creativity and outstanding customer service. Some are rooted in tradition while others are trailblazing and their diversity all contributes to making the Tendring district an exciting area to live and visit.
Among those featured are Clacton Pier and the Century cinema in Clacton, which offer hours of top quality family entertainment, while others, such as Brightlingsea Museum and Short and Sweet confectioners in Dovercourt, take visitors on a trip down memory lane with a welcome serving of nostalgia.
The website also highlights gifted crafters and artisans, delicious eateries, delis and cafes as well as excellent bakers and art galleries which host exhibitions designed to both challenge and delight. Top quality restaurants and cafes are also listed.
Thorrington Mill Vineyard, which sells award-winning wines as well as hosting tours and events, is another business featured on the website.
Mum-of-three Polly Baines, who runs the vineyard with her husband, Mark, said: “We are third generation farmers here and opened the vineyard in 2018.
“Any support which can be given to businesses is vital for us to succeed and to bring businesses together. To get our name out there, to have that visibility, is really important. For small businesses to have this support behind us means a lot; it makes us feel appreciated and valued.”
Penny Hughes-Stanton, has run the North House Gallery in Manningtree for 26 years. The private gallery, at The Walls, stages about eight exhibitions a year of paintings, drawings, sculpture and original prints and books by modern and contemporary artists.
Penny said: “The gallery is well-known in the area but the website will allow us to reach people from further afield. I think there is a lot of energy and determination among the younger business community in Manningtree and the website can only help traders.”
Ivan Henderson, Tendring District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Economic Growth, Regeneration & Tourism, said: “In Tendring we are blessed with beautiful award-winning beaches, stunning countryside and residents with an amazing community spirit. But it is the remarkable businesses which are the economic lifeblood of our district and which are so vital for its success.
“Our abundance of distinctive businesses not only sustain Tendring’s residents but also provide a range of special attractions for visitors and give our district its unique identity. This project has been funded with support from Tendring District Council via the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, funded by UK Government.
“We are proud to have them in our community and delighted to be able to share their information through the new Tendring Made website.”
