Mid and North East Essex Mind Launches Guide for Mental Wellbeing

Local charity launches “10 Habits in 10 Minutes” to mark World Mental Health Day, 10 October 2025.

Mid and North East Essex Mind is encouraging local people to make their mental wellbeing a daily priority this World Mental Health Day (10 October). The charity is launching a simple, practical resource: “10 Habits in 10 Minutes,” to help everyone boost their mental wellbeing.

The downloadable guide offers quick things to do designed to boost mental health. The actions range from mindful moments to connecting with others, all in just ten minutes a day.
Natalie Britt, Mental Health Education Lead, Mid and North East Essex Mind, explains: “Good mental health doesn’t need to be complicated. Our 10 Habits resource is about making wellbeing easy and accessible for all. Our ten top tips are easy to do, and we’d encourage everyone to give them a go, people will be surprised that by making small changes they’ll notice a big difference in their mental wellbeing.”
The downloadable guide presents ten small habits; all can be completed in under ten minutes. The list includes:
Take deep slow breaths to instantly calm and rest your body.
60-second reset: take a mindfulness break, observe your thoughts and feelings to lower stress hormones.
Stretch or move your body to help regulate your mood, improve energy and reduce anxiety.
Drink a glass of water it will rehydrate you and help you combat stress.
Listen to music it can really effect your mood. Choose calming music to unwind or something more uplifting to give you energy.
Write one thing you’re grateful for, this will help to alleviate stress and break cycles of overthinking.
Focus on your five senses: notice five things you can see, four you can feel, three you can hear, two you can smell and one you can taste. It’s a simple but effective method to manage feelings of anxiety.
Smile or laugh, by putting a smile on your face or just by making yourself laugh your mood will get an instant lift.
Go outside in the morning and get some natural daylight, it’s a simple way to set your body clock and give yourself an energy boost.
Intentionally relax your muscles, this technique is not only calming it also helps you feel more relaxed and present.
These simple, scientifically proven top tips aim to make mental wellbeing more accessible to everyone.
Mid and North East Essex Mind hopes this resource will reach individuals, workplaces, schools and community groups, helping spread small but powerful steps toward better mental health.
