Smarter security specialists Land Sheriffs supported the annual Imberbus event for the fifth consecutive year, helping to ensure members of the public had safe access to the ‘lost’ village of Imber.

Imberbus is an annual event which gives members of the public access to the uninhabited village of Imber, now a Ministry of Defence site located on the Salisbury Plain. Vintage London buses transport visitors through the abandoned village, providing rare glimpses into its rich history whilst raising money for charity.

On Saturday, 16th August, over 30 Routemaster buses drove thousands of visitors through the village. The bus fares from the event raised funds for several different charities, including helping to keep Imber’s St Giles Church open.

For the fifth year in a row, a team of Land Sheriffs’ specialist security professionals supported the event, providing tight security to ensure the safe-running of the operation.

“Supporting the Imberbus event is one of our annual highlights! Each year, we provide a team of highly-trained professionals to maintain the security of the village, whilst also making sure organisers, volunteers and event attendees feel welcome and safe” says James Coyle, Managing Director of Land Sheriffs.

The Wiltshire village of Imber was once home to a few hundred people, but residents were evicted in 1943 to support training efforts during World War Two. Since then, it has remained under Ministry of Defence control and is now used as a military training ground. Public access is limited to a few days a year, with Imberbus being one of the most anticipated events.

This year, Land Sheriffs once again provided access control at the village gates, monitoring the vehicles and people that entered. This ensured the safe and secure movement of attendees and the smooth running of the event for organisers.

“We’re pleased to have helped make Imberbus a safe and successful experience for all. We’re especially proud to have received such positive feedback, with the organisers crediting our team for being ‘brilliant’ and ‘faultless’ and giving us a 10/10 rating!” adds James.

Land Sheriffs provide specialist security services for clients across the UK. Working predominantly in the railway industry, they have over 20 years’ experience providing a range of security services, including mobile patrols, manned guarding and 24/7 CCTV monitoring.

In addition to working with clients, Land Sheriffs regularly get involved with the community, offering their specialist support and services to people, places and events, like Imberbus.

“We’d like to say a massive thank you to all of the event organisers and volunteers that make Imberbus so successful year after year. It’s a wonderful experience for all involved, and we’re already looking forward to next year!” concludes James.
