Titans of hardcore Hip Hop ONYX announce UK tour

Heroes of hardcore hip hop Onyx have announced a four date tour of the UK this April, taking in Birmingham’s Mama Roux’s on 4th April, Bristol’s Lost Horizon on 5th April, Manchester’s Factory 251 on 6th April, then closing the tour in London’s O2 Academy Islington on 21st April, with tickets on sale now here.

Onyx have amassed a global following of fans since they burst onto the scene over 30 years ago, with some of their biggest and most loyal in the UK. Good Friday and Latfro present Onyx’s World Tour, which the UK tour is part of, and the group’s first time on the road here in five years promising to be a roadblock. Onyx tour as a duo, consisting of Fredro Starr and Sticky Fingaz.

Onyx said “We can’t wait to touch down again in the UK, it’s been way too long, UK are you ready for Onyx? We gonna shut it down!”

Originally from Queens, New York, Onyx first formed in 1988 by Fredro Starr, Sonny Seeza, and the late Big DS, with Sticky Fingaz joining the group in 1991. The group released debut album ‘Bacdafucup’ in 1993, produced by Run DMC’s Jam Master Jay and released on his JMJ Records label. The album which went platinum, won awards and international recognition, with the smash hit single ‘Slam’ peaking in the US Top 5, with magazine The Source hailing it as the record that introduced slam dancing into the hip hop scene. Two more songs from the debut ‘Throw Ya Gunz’ and ‘Shifftee’ garnered further hits. Onyx have released a total of twelve studio albums, many remix albums, compilations and live albums. Three of the studio albums went Top 10 in the Billboard Hot 200 albums chart. Notable albums include ‘Shut ‘Em Down’ (1998) featuring DMX, 50 Cent, Wu- Tang Clan, N.O.R.E. and Big Pun, ‘Bacdafucup Pt II’ (2001), ‘Triggernometry’ (2003), ‘Wakedafucup’ (2014), #Turndafucup (2014) featuring Busta Rhymes, Raekwon, Rass Kass and Ill Bill, ‘Black Rock’ (2018), album ‘Onyx 4 Life’ (2021) featuring Mad Lion, Cappadonna, SickFlo and Snak the Ripper and latest album ‘World Take Over’ (2023).
