Weston Homes has gained Reserved Matters Planning Permission for their new application made to Epping Forest District Council for the redevelopment of the 10.36-acre site in Thornwood Village, Epping, for the development of Thornwood Park, marking a significant step forward in Weston Homes’ strategic expansion plans.

Construction start on site is imminent and the new £33.5 million (GDV) residential scheme will feature 62 family homes complete with gardens, landscaping, community orchard, parking and circa 4.7 acres of public open space in the form of a pocket park.

Weston Homes developed the proposals alongside the parameter plans secured under the outline planning application as well as using comments and observations from other key stakeholders, through the development process. The Thornwood Park development will offer a mix of two, three, four, and five-bedroom family houses designed around winding streets and crescents. The project, inclusive of 40% onsite affordable housing, will create a leafy and green ‘garden suburb’ ambiance with gardens, landscaping, a community orchard, and approximately 4.7 acres of public open space in the form of a new park – whilst being designed to integrate with the surrounding village.

All the homes will be served by sustainable heat sources with their own dedicated Air Source Heat Pumps as well as on-site PV Panels to provide energy generation. There are also electric vehicle charging points for all residential car parking. Alongside the new public open space being provided by Weston Homes, upgrades will be made to all existing bus stops outside the development, further serving the local public.

Leading volume housebuilder Weston Homes has announced it will launch and develop £310 million of new residential schemes providing almost 900 new homes across London and the South-East during the first half of 2024. Thornwood Park was one of three further London commuter projects at planning application stage offering another 638 homes, bringing the overall pipeline to in excess of 1,500 new homes.

Bob Weston, Chairman and Managing Director of Weston Homes says: ” Weston Homes is delighted by the Reserved Matters Planning Permission which underlines the creation of a new residential scheme of family houses perfect for first time buyers, young couples, and families. This new development in the London commuter region is part of our ongoing major growth and expansion. We are looking forward to beginning the delivery of this fantastic new development for the people of Epping.”

Thornwood Park is designed to provide an abundance of green open space, emphasising sustainability and eco-friendly features. Weston Homes, a recipient of the prestigious top Gold Award for Best Medium Sized Housebuilder at the 2022 WhatHouse? Awards, is committed to environmentally sustainable projects, incorporating elements such as biodiverse roofs, brown roofs, and electric vehicle charging points.

Weston Homes will continue to look for new sites within outer London and the South East in locations within a 15 minutes walk to a railway station including greenfield land sites, brownfield sites and landmark buildings which could be converted into new residential or mixed use addresses.
