People are being encouraged to sign up to ACL Essex’s festive courses and get crafting this Christmas, to create their own decorations and fun, homemade gifts for their loved ones.

The adult education provider is offering a variety of fun activities to help people cut the cost this Christmas. Learners will get the chance to craft their own festive decorations or create the perfect homemade gift for everyone in their life, from Christmas-themed crochet to mischievous elves.

At ACL Essex’s ‘Floristry Christmas Arrangements Workshop’, aspiring florists can create a unique floral arrangement that could take centre stage at the Christmas dining table. Learners will also get the chance to create the perfect door decoration at ACL Essex’s popular Christmas wreathmaking sessions, while the ‘Stained Glass Christmas Workshop’ offers learners the chance to produce a stunning decoration for their Christmas tree.

The whole family, young and old, can take part in fun ‘Christmas Crafts’ sessions, where learners can make the perfect homemade gift or create a decoration to brighten the tree. Budding musicians can also flex their guitar skills and get into the festive mood at the ‘Music Guitar Christmas Workshop’, by learning some simple Christmas songs to play.

Learners can also develop their crocheting skills by trying out Christmas-themed crochet patterns, which can be made into the perfect gift for someone special. Or learners could delight the children in their family by handcrafting their own elf to spread some mischief in their home.

Lisa Jarentowski, ACL Essex Principal, is delighted to welcome people to ACL Essex this Christmas. She said: “We’re getting into the festive spirit early at ACL Essex! Our Christmas courses offer something for everyone and with such a wide range of courses, you could make the perfect Christmas decoration or homemade gift for all of your loved ones.

“Whether you’re looking to reduce the cost of Christmas, have always wanted to take up a festive hobby or want to do something fun with the whole family, we’re offering plenty of opportunity to get crafting this Christmas.”

ACL Essex’s Christmas courses start from 1 November. Many of them may have funding available, which can help towards the full cost of the course, while paid-for courses start from £9.50 per hour.
