In a display of community spirit, the England 4 (Essex) Chapter of the Red Knights MC, a motorcycle club comprising firefighters and their families, has successfully raised over £2500 to support the Rosemary Suite at Colchester General Hospital.

This significant donation will aid the Rosemary Suite, which serves as a haven for couples grieving the loss of their baby, ensuring they receive care in a setting that offers both privacy and comfort during their most difficult moments.

Mark Moughton, a senior member of the Red Knights MC who took the lead in organising the fundraiser, said: “Being part of the firefighter community, we’re used to regularly facing emergencies and challenges. It’s deeply ingrained in us to give back and support those enduring painful moments. The Rosemary Suite at Colchester General Hospital provides an invaluable service to our community in Essex, and we’re humbled to contribute towards such a noble cause. We’re supporting this charity all year, so there is still the opportunity to donate.”

Penny Norris, representing Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to the Red Knights for their diverse and imaginative fundraising activities and all their kindness, dedication and support so far this year. This donation will undoubtedly make a significant difference to the families benefitting from the care, comfort and dignity that the Rosemary Suite provides.”

The months-long fundraiser, both online and offline, culminated with a function at the Tulip pub in Chelmsford whose highlight was a charity auction for a 3D painting generously donated by Colchester-based Frank’s Motorcycles. The funds will go a long way to ensuring that the Rosemary Suite continues to be a sanctuary for those in need, allowing them to heal in a compassionate environment.
