A charity golf day arranged by Chelmsford-based developer Barratt and David Wilson Homes Eastern Counties has raised £11,000 for its Charity of the Year, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSH Charity).

Over 60 golfers, including Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ employees and sub-contractors, took part in the tournament which was held at The Warren Golf Club in Chelmsford.

The funds raised on the day have been donated to GOSH Charity, to help support four key areas, including funding research into pioneering new treatments for children, providing the most up to date medical equipment, funding support services for children and their families, and supporting the essential rebuilding and refurbishment of the hospital.

Marina Barnes, Head of Community Fundraising at GOSH Charity, said: “We’d like to sincerely thank Barratt and David Wilson Homes for its fundraising efforts. The generosity shown by those who attended the charity golf day will go a long way to improving the lives of children being treated at GOSH, and their families.”

As Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ Charity of the Year, GOSH Charity will benefit from a number of corporate fundraising events taking place over the next few months.

A football tournament is due to take place on Friday 22nd September, and a charity walk has been scheduled to be held in October.

Colchester-based APS Bricklaying was crowned the winning team of the tournament, and each of its players were awarded with a new golf bag to take home.

Mark Turner from Camtech Building Products won the individual prize and received a new fairway wood golf club for his efforts.

Tom Wright, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Eastern Counties, said: “We always look forward to our charity golf day as it’s one of the highlights of our fundraising calendar and, this year, it’s a pleasure to be able to support Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, which contributes a great deal to supporting children’s health.

“We’d like to thank everyone who participated in the event for helping to support such a great cause and look forward to reconvening again soon for our next charity event in September.”
