One of Graffeg’s most popular picture book characters, Albert the Tortoise, has been adapted for the youngest audience in a brand-new board book.

In Albert and his Friends, Albert goes on a journey around his garden home meeting many of his insect friends, including Butterfly, Worm, Bee and Spider, as he discovers what makes them special.

Making the Albert the Tortoise series suitable for the youngest children, Albert and his Friends introduces them to a range of insects they may see in their gardens or in nature and is full of fun phrases to help them become familiar with different sounds and phonetics. Accompanying the text are bright and colourful illustrations by Eoin Clarke.

Author Ian Brown says, ‘It’s a delight to introduce Albert to a younger audience and to let them meet all the garden friends of our favourite tortoise.’

This is the first board book to be published by Welsh independent publisher Graffeg, who plan to release a further three titles in Welsh and English this year.

Managing Director Peter Gill, says, ‘Stepping into board books is a natural extension for Graffeg picture books. Characters Albert the Tortoise and Fletcher, loved by children, can now be enjoyed by parents with youngsters under 3 years.’
