Housebuilder Bellway London is donating £500 to a primary school in Hornchurch to help throw what parents and teachers hope will be its biggest summer fayre yet.

The Friends of Suttons Primary School are set to host the event in the school grounds, next to Bellway London’s St George’s Park development off Suttons Lane, on Saturday 24 June. All the proceeds raised will go towards the school.

It is the first time the fayre has been held since 2019 and organisers hope that more than 800 people will attend, including pupils, siblings, parents, grandparents and local clubs providing entertainment.

As a co-sponsor, Bellway London has donated £500, with the money going towards the summer fayre raffle and new books for the school library.

Allison Roberts, Trustee of Friends of Suttons Primary Parent Teacher Association said: “This is the first year we’ve held this event since the pandemic hit and we think this could be the biggest summer fayre in the school’s 89-year history.

“We’d like to thank Bellway for their kind donation. The generosity of local businesses within the Borough of Havering is testament to the fact that Hornchurch is a wonderful place to live, where people really care about our children.”

The last fayre that took place in 2019 raised money towards a new sporting facility at the school.

All 457 pupils, their families and the wider community are invited to enjoy a variety of activities on the day, including inflatables, pony rides, mini athletics and archery, as well as stalls from local businesses and Essex Wildlife Trust and emergency service vehicles.

Local groups are also being invited to perform to showcase dancing, singing and martial arts, while there will also be a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses.

Samantha Norman, Bellway London Sales Manager, said: “As part of our continued commitment to support the local community in Hornchurch as we build new homes at St George’s Park, we are more than happy to help Suttons Primary School by making a donation to the school as co-sponsors of its summer fayre.

“We hope everyone attending the summer fayre has a wonderful day out and that the school benefits from the support of the rest of the local community, as well as raising much-needed funds to make the children’s schooling experience the best it can be.”
