Markel UK, a leading insurer of not-for-profit organisations with over 10,000 clients in the sector is delighted to announce that Emma Kiss, Activities Co-ordinator, at the charity Outlook Care has won the Dementia category at the Markel 3rd Sector Care Awards, which took place on Friday 3rd March 2023 at The Grand Hotel, Birmingham.

Now in their ninth year, The Markel 3rd Sector Care Awards recognises and rewards the hard work, dedication, innovation and excellence of the not-for-profit sector and all those who make a positive difference to people’s lives.

The Dementia award celebrates anyone improving the lives of people and families of those living with dementia – whether they have just been diagnosed or are coming to the end of their life. Nominees should demonstrate how they have included people with dementia, their carers and communities in developing local services.

Of Emma Kiss at Outlook Care, the judges said:

“The judges were moved by this person’s unwavering dedication and commitment to support people living with dementia. What was very apparent to the judges was that this person has gained the trust of every person she cares for and her natural creativity that she brings to everything she does. Nothing is ever ‘off the shelf’ and the judges enjoyed listening to how she will change and adapt activities that support independence through a very bespoke approach.”

“It was great to see so many amazing charities at the Markel 3rd Sector Awards ceremony, all with fantastic stories to tell,” said Neil Galjaard, divisional managing director at Markel UK. “The awards go from strength to strength each year and we would encourage as many charities as possible to enter for next year.”
