Rosellas release new single ‘Switch Off’ today

After signing with This Feeling Records and igniting the Isle of Wight, Y Not?, Truck and Rewired festivals this summer, Manchester’s next big hope Rosellas make their debut for their new label with the September 8th release of the new single ‘Switch Off’. The track is the first taste of plenty of new material to come from the rising quintet.

‘Switch Off’ shows Rosellas’ growing artistry. It channels its melancholy vibe into a richer, layered production which evokes ’80s dream pop and post-punk as much as it does their more classic ’90s indie influences such as Stone Roses and The Verve. Frontman Drew Selby’svoice shimmers with emotion to match the mood, his words articulating that a life dedicated solely to grinding to reach your ambitions will only lead to burnout.

Rosellas commented, “This is a tune driven by a punchy, contemporary beat and moody guitars that centres its focus around the idea of getting away from it all and switching off from the moment. Not chasing dreams 24 hours a day and losing sight of the reason you began in the first place.”

The track was produced by Oliver Shillito at Big City Jacks in Bury.

Like Inhaler and DMA’S, Rosellas excel at finding a vibrant modernist edge to their storied influences. Their previous shows have seen them excel regardless of the company they keep, from rising rock ‘n’ rollers like Planet and The K’s to longstanding hedonists Black Grape. Even prior to signing to This Feeling, Mikey Jonns’ multifaceted club night, record label and new music platform has consistently championed Rosellas by including them on their Big in 2022 showcase gig and vinyl compilation, and repeatedly highlighted their releases as their Track of the Day.

Completed by Euan Mail (rhythm guitar), Luis Sullivan (keys, backing vocals), Ollie Appleby (bass) and Mark Zanker (drums), Rosellas are about to embark upon a tour as guests to Starsailor. They will then hit Manchester’s Neighbourhood Festival before playing three shows with Andrew Cushin. Their upcoming tour dates are:
