North London Hospice, that has been caring for people in the local community since 1984, has received a donation from a regional housebuilder.
The Hospice supports people with life-limiting illnesses physically, emotionally and spiritually, and has received £1,000 from Persimmon Homes North London through its Community Champions scheme.
Alice Hunter, from the hospice, said: “Last year we accepted 341 admissions to our In-Patient Unit and provided 3,826 days for highly complex individual patients; provided clinical, practical and emotional support to 3,347 people in the community; and provided 24 hour palliative care to 374 patients in their own homes; we supported 122 people through our bereavement services to cope with loss and grief; and received 7059 calls to our out of hours service between the hours of 5pm and 8am.
“All of our services are free but only 40 per cent of our funding come from the NHS meaning that we rely on donations to continue our work:
£960 could fund a morning of complimentary therapy for 20 patients
£1,000 could fully fund clinical, practical and emotional support given to one patient by a community support nurse
£1,038 could fully fund the overnight care of a patient in the comfort of their own home
“On behalf of everyone at North London Hospice, please extend our sincere gratitude to Persimmon Homes Community Champions for their generosity in choosing us as a recipient of this grant.
Rachel Faulkner, sales director for Persimmon Homes North London, said: “It is clear that the North London Hospice provides invaluable support to patients and families and we are pleased to be able to support them through our Community Champions scheme.”
