Hunt is on for Foundation’s fluffy bunnies

SCORES of escaped bunnies are waiting to be found across a north Essex village.

West Bergholt has been overrun by the fluffy fiends and the Tom Bowdidge Youth Cancer Foundation has called on people to help round them up.

Volunteers from knitting group Knit One Down One have been handmaking the knitted bunnies in time for Easter. They have now been let loose on the unsuspecting village in time for the Easter school holidays.

Nikki Bowdidge, CEO and Founder of the Tom Bowdidge Youth Cancer Foundation, said: “The lovely Knit One Down One has generously been running the bunny hunt for several years now and it’s great to see the children around the village trying to find a bunny.

“It’s always lovely to see families in particular coming together to hunt them down and I’m sure this year will be no different.

“We must say a huge thank you to Knit One Down One. Each year they take a huge amount of care organising, knitting and hiding the bunnies across West Bergholt in aid of The Foundation. It’s incredibly generous of them to give up so much of their time.

“I look forward to getting my map and finding as many of the knitted fluffers I can this week.”

The annual bunny hunt sees around 160 of the knitted creatures hidden throughout the village.

Families can pick up a map from all the shops and hairdressers in West Bergholt as well as 9 Firmins Court, 13 Granville Close and The Hawthorns, Bourne Road. They can then mark on a map where they find a bunny, fill in the form on the back of the map and hand it in to be entered into a prize draw for a special knitted creature.

The event annually raises hundreds of pounds for the Tom Bowdidge Youth Cancer Foundation.

The bunny hunt runs from April 2 to April 18. People should check social media and the Tom Bowdidge Youth Cancer Foundation website for up to date information on the event.
Maps cost £1 each and can be handed in to Kitty Rose, in to Kitty Rose, in Colchester Road, West Bergholt, once completed.
