TalkTalk’s network will be up to 80% more energy efficient following the switch from existing copper-based services to full fibre. In celebration of the environmental benefits, TalkTalk is giving away a year’s supply of carbon neutral champagne.
Researchers from TalkTalk surveyed 1,500 modern Brits and revealed the true signs of a potential suitor, with almost a third (31 percent) saying caring for the planet was a major turn-on.
While a staggering 70 percent of those polled admitted they’d be put off dating someone who didn’t try to protect the environment.
Will Ennett, Head of Sustainability at TalkTalk, which conducted the research said: “Our research shows that when it comes to finding ‘the one’, caring about the planet is increasingly important to modern Brits. Ahead of Valentine’s Day, we’re encouraging people to think about eco-friendly switches they can make to help show the planet some love.
Our research shows that by switching to Future Fibre from standard broadband, TalkTalk customers can reduce their lifetime carbon emissions by up to 565Kg* – to put this into context, around 26 adult trees are needed to absorb that amount of CO2***.”
While 59 percent would love to receive environmentally friendly gifts, like digital valentine’s day cards or carbon neutral champagne, from their partner.
When it comes to relationship red flags, 28 percent said that dropping litter was a total no no, 34 percent couldn’t be with someone who didn’t care for animals, 15 percent wouldn’t stand for a partner who left the tap running while they brushed their teeth, and more than one in twenty (6 percent) would be put off if someone couldn’t keep their house plants alive.
Switching from standard broadband to full fibre, allows TalkTalk customers to reduce their lifetime carbon footprint by up to 565Kg*. That’s equivalent to sending a mammoth 4,036** Valentine’s Day cards – enough cards to fill the length of 6 football pitches and almost double the height of the Eiffel Tower!
