Olympic, World & Commonwealth Champion Christine Ohuruogu MBE helping Jacob make dreams come true

Six-year-old Jacob Tomkins from Hatfield Peverel near Chelmsford, Essex had a very hard start in life being resuscitated for 22 minutes, which unfortunately left him with a brain injury. Jacob’s parents were told if he survived, he would never walk again. Now aged 6, Jacob is amazing everyone with his progress. Jacob has been an Ambassador of The Dream Factory charity since 2019. The Dream Factory aims to brighten the lives and encourage hope for children and young adults aged between 3 and 25 years who have life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and/or severe disabilities by way of granting wishes and dreams. Jacob’s dream of going to Disneyland Paris could not take place due to COVID-19, but he experienced his dream a few weeks ago, when he visited Lapland UK in Windsor, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Since becoming a Dream Factory Ambassador, Jacob has already taken part in a sponsored bike ride for the Charity but after watching this year’s Pride of Britain Awards, Jacob decided that he wanted to do something else for The Dream Factory and came up with the idea to run 1 Mile for 50 Days as part of our Kids helping Kids Campaign! For a little boy whose parents were told he would never talk or walk, this is a truly amazing challenge. Jacob has currently run 34 days (as of 23 December 2021) and the very exciting news is that one of The Dream Factory’s Patrons, Olympic, World & Commonwealth Champion Christine Ohuruogu MBE has agreed to join Jacob on his 1 mile run on Thursday 30 December 2021.

When asked what doing this challenge means to Jacob, he said:
“Raising money for the Charity means more than cuddles.”

Avril Mills BEM, Founder & Trustee of The Dream Factory said,
“We are so enormously proud of Jacob and his dedication to us, and we are very thankful to Christine for giving up her time in joining Jacob next week. Please donate as much or as little as you can, every penny can make a difference, as we make more dreams come true. Thank you”.
