Tarquin’s handcrafted Cornish Gin distils a QUARTER OF A MILLION litres of its signature Cornish Dry Gin in time for summer

After Cornwall welcomed 2.5 million visitors during the summer months of 2020*, Tarquin’s Gin has made the necessary steps to prepare for the arrival of this summers’ British holidaymakers by distilling a staggering 250K litres of it’s award winning gin since the beginning of the year in order to meet demand.

The gin created at Tarquin’s, once distilled is bottled, filled, labelled, wax sealed, stamped and signed by hand – creating truly hand-crafted gins. Anticipating those visiting the county famed for its world-renowned beaches to be looking to let their hair down following months spent in lockdown, the team have fired up the stills to distill enough bottles of Tarquin’s handcrafted Cornish Gin to satisfy the thirst of visitors, resulting in stock that could stretch across the county, from Lands End to Bude.

When in Cornwall, holidaymakers have been known to flock to the bright blue Tarquin’s Cornish Gin parasols, which line the coast, to enjoy a refreshing glass of Tarquin’s Cornish Gin and tonic. Although Tarquin’s has been Amazon’s best selling gin for three years running, sales indicate that a trip to this area of outstanding natural beauty is not complete without the purchase of a bottle of the flagship Tarquin’s Handcrafted Cornish Dry Gin to take home.

All Tarquin’s sites, including it’s newly opened Gin School and Shop in St Ives are now open. Tarquin’s Distillery can be found just outside Padstow, tours are available from mid-May but visitors can enjoy tastings and waxing their own bottle on Fridays and Saturdays at the Cellar Door. Tarquin’s store in Padstow offers a Gin School and Shop. Later this year, Tarquin’s will open a third Gin Shop in Fowey.

“I’m incredibly excited to open our two new stores in time for summer. We’ve had an incredible reaction to our shop in Padstow from locals and tourists alike! We can’t wait to welcome people through our doors to taste our amazing gins, learn from our incredible team and even wax their own bottle in dedicated sessions!” – Tarquin Leadbetter, founder and Master Distiller at Southwestern Distillery.

Located on the busy shopping streets of Fore Street in St Ives and Fowey, the two new shops will stock the full range of Tarquin’s award winning gins as well as all of his latest creations, including 3 new rums and seasonal limited editions. A special feature of Tarquin’s Gin School masterclass, to be hosted in Padstow and St Ives Gin Schools, is that budding distillers can even bring in their own botanicals to make their own gin! From homegrown herbs to foraged fruits, for a truly unique experience.
