Harlow playgrounds set to re-open following safety inspections

Children and their families across Harlow will be pleased to hear that the town’s 43 playgrounds are opening up again this week.

The 43 playgrounds in the town were all closed in March due to government restrictions relating to coronavirus.

Following safety inspections carried out by HTS on all the playgrounds, to ensure equipment is safe and ready for use, we are now opening them up again to the public. The only exception to this at the moment is the inclusive playground located next to Pets’ Corner, which requires repairs due to vandalism.

The following playgrounds have already been re-opened, with the remaining sites due to be all open again by Friday:

· Town Park Adventure Playground

· Glebelands

· Mark Hall Park

· Ladyshot

· The Stow

· Longley

· The Dashes

· Bush Fair

· Stile Croft

· Nicholls Field

· Prentice Place

· Harlow Common

· Kiln Lane

· Old Hall Rise

· Church Langley Park

When you visit the playgrounds there will be signage in place with guidance on what you need to do whilst using them to keep you and your family safe.

Please have a read when you visit to familiarise yourself with the new rules.

Commenting on the re-opening, Councillor Danny Purton, Portfolio Holder for Environment, said:

“I am so pleased for all the families who regularly use our playgrounds that they are opening again. It has been such a long time for them without these important community facilities so it’s great that they will be able to go out and start enjoying them again.

“I would just ask that everyone using the playgrounds take note of the new rules we’ve put in place for your safety, and that you continue to practice social distancing whilst there.

“I also want to say thank you to officers at the council and HTS for working hard together to get the playgrounds ready again for use in such short timescales.”
