Deliveroo Is Now Selling Its Iconic Delivery Bags To Customers So They Can Keep Their Picnics Cool

The 2020 summer trend nobody saw coming: due to high customer demand, Deliveroo is now making its iconic thermal food-delivery bags available to buy in Nottingham – perfect for people looking to keep their picnics cool – and we mean that both literally and figuratively.

According to the food-delivery company, there has been a huge number of inbound enquiries and Tweets* over the past couple of months from customers asking where they can get their hands on a piece of the branded kit – as people look to keep their park picnics ‘cool’ in both senses of the word.

It’s not the first time Deliveroo’s iconic branding has made waves in the British street-fashion scene. The famous teal rider jackets have over the years become somewhat of a trend, with customers scouring ebay and depop to get their hands on one of the high-vis garms you’re likely to see pop out in a crowd at likes of Glastonbury, Parklife or Boomtown.

With festivals and the likes cancelled this summer, picnics in the park appears to be the next best thing for Brits across the UK looking to catch up with friends and soak up some rays. According to Deliveroo, sales of ice cubes (170%), prosecco (45%) and ice-cream (412%) amongst other picnic-type items have rocketed over the past couple of months compared to this time last year.

Looking to satisfy customer demand, whilst helping Britain keep their picnics ‘cool’, the food delivery-company has launched ‘The Cool Bag Shop’, where for the first time ever, customers can purchase an official piece of branded rider kit for personal use. The Deliveroo thermal bags are being sold at £10 retail price from 5 locations around the UK including three sites in London, Nottingham and Leeds**.

As well as doubling up as a fashion statement, the bags, specially designed to be lightweight, insulating and easily transportable for Deliveroo riders, make the perfect picnic bag to keep those all-important snacks and drinks nicely chilled this summer. Lined with heat protective technology, the lightweight zip-up cool bag in the brand’s signature teal is designed to keep your average take-out fresh, tasty and at the right temperature for up to 2 hours. Each bag is insulated with a foam lining and a strong plastic inner fabric which can be easily wiped clean in case of spillage.

Natasha Graydon from Deliveroo said, “Picnics have been a saving grace for us Brits this summer, but it’s been a challenge getting it right – we’ve all been victim to warm beers, melted ice and soggy sandwiches at some point over the past couple of months. So whether you’re a cool kid on Clapham Common looking to keep your Franco Manca hot and your Aperol Spritz cold in style – or if you’re simply looking for a high quality picnic bag you know will do the trick, head on over to The Cool Bag Shop on the Deliveroo app this weekend.”

From everyone at Deliveroo, if you are heading out for a picnic in the sun this week, enjoy the outdoors, but please take all of your belongings home with you and recycle any rubbish in the bins provided.
