More Essex trains needed to slow coronavirus writes Cllr Callaghan to C2C and Greater Anglia

The Leader of Basildon Council Gavin Callaghan has strongly urged Essex train operators to put the health and wellbeing of Essex passengers first and create more space for social distancing on trains until the Prime Minister enforces a full lock-down.

In a letter to the companies written today Cllr Callaghan has asked C2C and Greater Anglia to reinstate full capacity on their train lines from tomorrow onwards, saying it is impossible for passengers to be two meters apart to slow the spread of coronavirus whilst C2C and Greater Anglia run reduced services.

Cllr Callaghan has stated that he is ready and willing to fully support C2C and Greater Anglia to help mitigate the worst consequences of the impact of coronavirus on their businesses.
