The Chairman of Basildon Council’s Neighbourhoods and Public Spaces Committee has praised the efforts of the council’s refuse and recycling teams over the festive and New Year period.

Councillor David Harrison said: “As the Committee Chair responsible for Waste and Recycling services in the Basildon Borough, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the hardworking refuse and recycling collection staff of Basildon Council for their efforts over the Christmas period.

“Whilst many of us are enjoying a hard-earned break, they are out clearing up to 40% more waste and recycling than usual. They provide a great service to our residents in difficult conditions and I am proud of the service they provide.

“I would also like to thank residents for their understanding during disruptions to their collection days over Christmas – by recycling, and making sure that bags are out by 7:30am on the day of collection only, you help us to keep your streets clean and reduce your environmental impact.”
