Best ever GCSE results for Roding Valley High School

Roding Valley High School is celebrating its best ever GCSE results, with a record breaking 5% of year 11 students achieving grade 9 – more than double the national average.

The school has experienced vast improvements across the board, with students showing particular academic knowledge in the sciences, including five exceptional students, Billy, Saskia, Yasmin, Eren and Keilan, achieving grade 9 in all three sciences. The vast majority of students achieved grade 7 and above in this subject area, and results in English were also significantly improved, with 85% achieving a standard pass and 67% at grade 5 and above. Year 11 student, Billy, also achieved nine grade 9s across all of his subject choices.

Sharon Jenner, Headteacher at Roding Valley High School, said: “I am absolutely delighted with these results – they are testament to the sheer commitment and dedication of both students and teaching staff. We have worked incredibly hard to maintain and raise a high standard within the school and these results, coupled with our A level success, are proof of our ability to support students to achieve the highest grades and reach their full potential.

“I am immensely proud of all our students and look forward to seeing many of them join us for a full seven-year journey, as they enter our sixth form. While it’s been fantastic to see our pupils achieving the highest grades, we are proud of every single one of our students, who have all made huge progress. It is really wonderful to be able to celebrate with all of these young people today.”

High flying students included Eloise and Saskia, who both received seven grade 9 scores across their subjects, Suzanna and Yasmin, who achieved six grade 9s, and Daniel, who achieved four grade 9s and five grade 8s, including Further Mathematics.

Roding Valley High School has built a reputation for academic achievement in Mathematics and the 2019 results have further built upon this success with scores well above the national average. The national average for grade 4 and above was 59.6%, with the Roding Valley High School achieving 78.4%, and the national average for grade 7 and above stood at 16.1%, with Roding Valley High School achieving 20.3%.
