Maldon rally driver Nabila Tejpar will make a long-awaited return to her home county of Essex to contest next weekend’s second running of the ground-breaking Corbeau Seats Rally – Tendring & Clacton (28th April).

Tejpar has been enjoying a bumper season so far, contesting events in the British Rally Championship and Peugeot Rally Cup Iberica which has seen her spend much of her time in Spain and Portugal where the events are held.

The 25-year-old will make a welcome return to her home county to contest the closed-road rally around the region and will pilot her Pump Technology backed Peugeot 208 R2 on the event.

Not only will Tejpar be up against over 100 other drivers in the event, but she will once again be aiming to beat her father Aziz, who will also contest the rally behind the wheel of his Historic specification Allied Polymer Ford Escort Mk2.

The father and daughter rallying duo went head to head on the very same rally last year, with Aziz taking the honours as Nabila sadly retired with clutch failure during the rally. The battle will resume over 12 stages across closed public roads in the Tendering and Clacton region totalling around 50 miles of competitive action. The rally was the first to take advantage of the new legislation to allow motorsport events to close roads back in 2018.

Nabila has had a busy year behind the wheel of her Peugeot 208 R2, swapping between a British and Iberica campaign. Her season kicked off in the Welsh forests in February, but a roll of the final stage of the event put paid to a solid Junior BRC points haul. The reigning British Ladies Rally Champion would then have a string of confidence boosting results in Portugal, Ireland and Spain and will hope to continue that theme on her home event.

“I`m really looking forward to rallying on my doorstep,” she says.

“Every rally I do requires a huge amount of travel and logistics and so to be able to just drive down to the rally is actually a real luxury for me. Contesting events abroad is all part of my career progression and I realise it’s necessary for that but every once in a while, it’s nice to be able to soak up the atmosphere of doing a rally back at home.”
