Chapterhouse Theatre Company’s 20th anniversary tour of open-air theatre will be bringing several productions to various venues across Essex!

Chapterhouse Theatre Company is set to present its 2019 open-air tour for its 20th anniversary year. Throughout the summer, Chapterhouse will be bringing stunning performances of six classic stories to some of the UK and Ireland’s most beautiful outdoor venues, promising to be one of the most enchanting and unmissable events of the summer.

Their brand-new show for 2019 is an adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s swashbuckling adventure Treasure Island, which alongside The Secret Garden will provide fun for all the family. They will also be bringing back a firm Chapterhouse favourite, with a nod to the company’s roots in Shakespearean theatre, with a magical production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Essex shows will include

Cudmore Grove Country Park

  • Treasure Island, Friday 14th June

National Trust Flatford

  • Pride and Prejudice, Saturday 15th June
  • The Secret Garden, Saturday 31st August

Belhus Woods Country Park

  • Wuthering Heights, Saturday 27th July

Cressing Temple Barns

  • The Secret Garden, Wednesday 21st August

Another favourite with Chapterhouse audiences, Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, will join our 2019 productions. Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights and Elizabeth Gaskell’s Cranford will also take to the stage, meaning that most of our summer productions will showcase bold, exciting stories from women writers in the literary canon.
