Harlow Town Park to get an inclusive playground

0

Progress is being made on building a new inclusive playground for all in Harlow Town Park next to the popular Pets’ Corner attraction.
The playground will be known as the Pets’ Corner playground and will be for families of all ages and abilities including children and adults with different needs and disabilities.

Funding for the playground has been secured from Essex County Council’s short-breaks fund with match funding from Harlow Council.

The plans were developed in consultation with local groups including Upwards with Downs and St. Elizabeth’s Centre as well as council staff who support local families.

The playground will have 30 different pieces of equipment including swings, slides, a roundabout (with wheelchair access), trampoline, sensory path and plants, a music zone, suspension bridge (with wheelchair access), a treehouse, picnic area and a quiet area.

Construction work is expected to last until the end of March (dependent on weather). Once opened the new playground will be one of a number of play facilities in the town park for families, which also includes the Adventure Playground.
