Cultural and creative activities are back in Basildon Town Centre

An innovative partnership between Basildon Council and not-for-profit organisation, Things Made Public CIC, saw the launch of the Culture Club in East Square before Christmas. The partnership is set to continue into 2019 – 70 years after Basildon new town was created.

Things Made Public will be launching its Games Club, from 1-5pm every Saturday from this week (19 January) and Art Clubbers, a community interest company, is already open in East Walk to help budding creatives achieve a sustainable career whilst immersing themselves in the local community.

New events that are set to launch at Culture Club in 2019 include Creative Networking and Friendship Circle as well as a host of workshops and talks that are set to inspire and innovate.

Live music, comedy, theatre and performance will be continuing in the evenings, with local acts raring to take to the stage. If you’re local to Basildon and have a night or event you want to bring to life, there are still some weekday slots available.

Art Clubbers have a two-month residency, entitled Basildonia, which will include activities and workshops for residents to enjoy and participate in, including writing workshops, knitting groups and gardening activities alongside creative endeavours such as painting, printing, embroidery and embellishment classes.
