Stephen Metcalfe, Member of Parliament for South Basildon and East Thurrock, recently visited Oaklands Care Home in Forest Glade, Langdon Hills to see first-hand the improvements they have recently made.
Stephen toured the care home with Stephanie Massey, Deputy Manager and was impressed by the improvements in management and organisation that the home have recently made and the entertainment they put on there for their residents and the wider local community.
With a rising aging population, many countries are struggling to provide good care home facilities for the eldery. Whilst many are turning to in-home care via www.careforfamily.com.au/ and similar services, both in the UK and around the world, seeing a care home do so well in these times is a positive message to the community.
As part of his visit, Stephen had the privilege of meeting resident Mr John Lancaster who will reach his 100th birthday next month and congratulated him for reaching this milestone.
Stephen said“It is fantastic to see significant improvements in organisation at Oaklands, a credit to the efforts of all the staff. The people that work here play an exceptionally important role in our community and I look forward to visiting again in the future”.
