How to protect your plants from the snow with Perrywood Garden Centre

With this week being the first week of spring and the grounds covered in snow, local Perrywood Garden Centre has shared a couple of tips for protecting plants from the cold.

Plants are really amazing and some adapt to the temperature. For example, bamboos curl up their leaves when it is cold. As soon as it warms up they will uncurl. Other annual plants like pansies simply collapse but will perk up again as it thaws.

1 – Although it’s a bit late now to use fleece or move things into greenhouses, it is well worth shaking snow off evergreens to stop them breaking under the weight.

2 – Once the snow melts check potted plants are adequately watered as the frost will dry things out.
