Alfredo Trueba, the Mexican actor known for his performances in series such as Betrayed,Showception, and Paradise by the Dashboard Light, has recently been tapped to take on the leading role of Salvador Dalí in the play When Picasso Met Dalí, and Andrew in the upcoming film Cocktails and Brothers.

When Picasso Met Dalí is set to premiere as part of the 2018 Hollywood Fringe Festival and its production team is headed by award winning producer and director Elizabeth Lanier, who’s dark musical comedy Narcissus and Echo was nominated for multiple awards at the 2017 Hollywood Fringe Festival including best Musical, Fringe First World Premiere, The Ripest Show, The Duende Distinction Award, and won The ENCORE! Producer’s Award. For Trueba, playing Dalí is a dream come true stating that, “to put up this show has been a dream of mine for some time now. Dalí is a fascinating artist and person and I can’t wait to bring him to life, and hopefully show both the recognizable celebrity but also a more secretive side to him, and working with Liz [Lanier] whose work I’ve loved, its just very exciting”.

In between rehearsals and shows for this production, Trueba will be travelling to Las Vegas, New York City, and even Valencia, Spain, as he takes on the character of Andrew in Delphis Entertainment’s Cocktails and Brothers. Co-created by brothers Isaak and Marcos Gracia, and directed by Isaak, Cocktails and Brothers is an upcoming action film that revolves around two brothers who, fueled by a dream, leave their home in Spain and relocate to Las Vegas in order to open a cocktail bar. Trueba will star alongside Marcos Gracia (Unknown, Love in Difficult Times), Paul Ouvrier (Wizards of Youth, Cult 11), and Gaia Passaler (Toenail, The Mystery of Casa Matusita).

Trueba was recently honored in Mexico City by his alma matter, The American School Foundation, with an “Alumni Spirit Award”. In a ceremony that closed the “ASF Talks 2017”, the award was given to the young actor sighting his brilliant work as a leading man in successful productions of Mexico City theater (with sold out hits such as Seussical the Musical and Into the Woods), New York City theater (in particular working as a writer and performer in the satirical Political Snorts! directed by the late, Tony nominated Elizabeth Swados), and his newfound success in the Los Angeles film, television, and commercial markets.

There is no telling where this star’s success will take him next, but besides preparing for these upcoming projects, Trueba was a vital part of the 2017 Latino Scene Showcase presented by the National Hispanic Media Coalition and the Los Angeles Theater Center, where he shined playing Jesus Christ.  In what little has passed of this year, he has wrapped production on the limited series Dronez in Mexico City and has worked on a number of commercials for the Mexican company “Host a Pet”.
