Leigh-on-Sea photographer brightens up hospital wards

It’s said that a picture paints a thousand words, for the photography work of Chris Eastty, from Leigh-on-Sea, however there is just one word, wow.

Chris’s pictures are on display on Windsor, Princess Anne and Eleanor Hobbs wards, as well as the Emergency Department at Southend Hospital.

Chris, an Emergency Department Assistant in the hospital’s Emergency Department and a keen amateur photographer, wanted to help brighten up elderly wards and corridors at the hospital so has kindly donated his work after being approached.

Chris said: “I was a little shocked to be asked, but was more than happy to donate my images. It’s an honour to help cheer patients up and give them something different to look at rather than plain walls. It’s great to see the pieces of work up and patients and visitors taking time to look at them and help spark conversation.”

Claire Buckell, Clinical Development Nurse, whose idea it was for the installation of Chris’s work, said that the introduction was already having a hugely positive effect on patients and went far beyond it giving them something nice to look at.
