Travelodge has today announced that Essex is a key growth area for the company and it’s looking to expand its portfolio with a further 11 new hotels.

The announcement came as the budget hotel brand  opened its second hotel in Romford. The company’s 548th hotel is located in the heart of Romford town centre above The Quadrant shopping centre.

Mayor of Havering, Councillor Linda Van den Hende said: “We are delighted that Travelodge has opened a second hotel in Romford and is supporting the town’s economic development goals. I believe the addition of Travelodge will have a positive impact on the town by providing employment for local residents, affordable accommodation for visitors and generating extra spend in the wider local economy.”

Travelodge is looking for sites in the following locations: Basildon, Brentwood, Canvey Island, Chelmsford, Colchester, Epping, Grays Thurrock, Maldon, Rayleigh, Southend-on-Sea and Waltham Abbey.
