Short film aims to remove stigma around traumatic birth

Having a child is often depicted by the glowing joy of pregnancy, the screaming hysteria of childbirth and the overwhelming love of a mother for her baby. But, as many mothers will know, it’s not always that straightforward. It seems that the world of film and television rarely tackles this important subject.

For many mothers, this is a shame as it does not underline the pain and anxiety and sometimes mourning that mothers have to endure during childbirth. It is nearly always perceived to be a straightforward and quick process. No one dares to tackle the ins and outs of the real event, perhaps because they are so daunting. Many people know that childbirth can become a problem due to natural causes, it is a vulnerable time for the female body and it can be exposed to infection and other birthing issues. Other times, it can be a malpractice issue in which law firms such as LawTX birth injury lawyers would have to step in. This is a rarity, but of course it can still happen, despite so many people still being in the dark about it. For many mothers, word needs to get out about how mentally and physically challenging childbirth really is.

That’s why a new short film has been created which aims to shine a spotlight on the rarely discussed issue affecting up to a third of new mothers.

Early Days is a new short flm, written by Irish actor and director Nessa Wrafter and starring Maimie McCoy and Adrian Bower, that aims to remove the stigma around traumatic birth.

Executive producer Kate Magowan told us “I am thrilled to be involved in such a beautifully written flm about this important issue. It is a subject that I feel is perhaps not addressed enough. Nessa has written a wonderful script.”

She added “I want to champion more work by women for women and with this talented bunch of ladies ,I get to do exactly that.”

The film is currently fundraising and more information is available here – https://secure.livetree.com/#!/item/livetree/6536?l
