World Champion mountain biker Hans Rey will be at Chelmsford’s Civic Theatre on Monday 4 February, to talk about his amazing life and career.

Hans Rey is the pioneer of freeride mountain biking, extreme and trials mountain biking, and a former mountain bike world champion who has won bike trials all over the globe. Hans has visited over 70 countries and has graced the cover of over 400 magazine covers. Some of his amazing cycling feats include; the first descent on a bike of Mount Kenya, riding the Inca Trial to Machu Picchu and trekking the Indian Himalayas. Hans has performed some truly amazing stunts on his bike, from bungee jumping to riding ropes down a 14-storey skyscraper! He is now becoming a celebrity in the biking world and is even considering creating his own mountain biking jerseys merchandise. Things are certainly looking up for the biking star!

Since retiring from competitive sport in 1997 Hans has focused his time on exploring the extremes of the world on his mountain bike, places that had been previously considered to be un-rideable. Hans has also set up Wheels4life, a charity that provides cycles to people in developing countries and have supplied over 10,000 bikes to students, farmers and healthcare workers in 32 different countries.

Hans will be talking about his early life in Germany, the early mountain bike boom in America, his amazing biking career and his vision of the future of the sport. The night promises to be unmissable for any cycling fanatic or anyone interested in sport and what motivates a person to push their body, and equipment, to the very limits of endurance.
