Popina returns to Colchester’s Lion Walk

Popina at The Courtyard, in Colchester’s Lion Walk Shopping Centre, returns for 2026 with a vibrant opening weekend of live entertainment, family activities and special guest appearances, marking the start of another exciting spring and summer season in the heart of Colchester.
The official opening will take place on Saturday, 28th March at 10.30am, with a special photocall attended by The Mayor of Colchester, Councillor Michael Lilley, the Mayoress, Alderman Lyn Barton, Pam Cox MP, and the Town Crier Rennie Chivers, formally welcoming visitors back to the much-loved outdoor dining destination.
Adding to the celebratory atmosphere, ten young performers from the Laura Rampton School of Dance will take centre stage as bunny dancers, alongside the Bunny Bungalow’s giant mascot.
Popina’s return is marked by a packed programme of live music and entertainment across two consecutive weekends, including the Bank Holiday Weekend.
The opening weekend sees live music from Old Hats on Friday, 27th March, a DJ set from Mango Panda on Saturday, 28th March and a soulful performance from local singer Irie J on Sunday, 29th March.
On 3rd April there is music from Jam Jar followed by a DJ set from DJ Darryl Wright & Friends on Saturday, 4th April and more live music from The Hit List on Sunday, 5th April
This is just the start of another sizzling hot summer of live bands, DJs and soulful performances set for Popina – Colchester’s prime hotspot for outdoor entertainment.
The launch of Popina’s spring programme aligns with the opening of the Bunny Bungalow in the Courtyard at Lion Walk, bringing a much-loved Easter experience back to the city centre.
Families will be able to meet the Easter Bunny throughout the Easter period, with the giant bunny mascot on hand to welcome guests and create magical moments for children. The attraction continues to be a highlight for visitors, combining interactive fun with photo opportunities and seasonal treats.
Open daily from 10am to 5pm, 28th March to 5th April 2026, the attraction invites children to meet the Easter Bunny in a warm and welcoming setting, enjoy photo opportunities and receive a special Easter egg and soft toy.
Priced at £8.50 per child, the experience has become a seasonal favourite for many local families, providing a simple yet memorable way to celebrate Easter together. Advance booking is recommended to ensure availability.
