Bobby Moore Academy celebrates GCSE results

Students and staff are celebrating at Bobby Moore Academy, part of the David Ross Education Trust, as students receive their GCSE results.

Year 11 students sat their examinations earlier this year, in May and June, following months of preparation and extra support including Saturday schools, subject masterclasses, and one-to-one tutoring.

Students across the country will have faced some disruption to their education over the past five years and Bobby Moore Academy is proud of all the hard work and dedication students and staff have shown.

Maja Zydyk, BMA’s year 11 prom queen and all-round high achiever achieved phenomenal results with eight grade 9s and two grade 8s. Maja is a true BMA model scholar – kind, caring, and a model citizen and everyone at BMA is so pleased about her well-deserved success.

Emma Fullbrook has been at BMA since Year 7 and is a true reflection of the core BMA values of dignity, kindness and being the architect or your own aspirations. She worked incredibly hard for 5 years, and received seven grade 9s and two grade 8s in her GCSEs. Everyone at BMA is so proud of Emma and everything she has worked to achieve.

Shadman Chowdhury has achieved five grade 9s, one grade 8, one grade 7 and one grade 6, despite health struggles throughout the year. He truly represents what it means to model resilience, and shows that with determination anything is possible.

As well as these three stand out scholars with phenomenal stories that make their success all the more inspiring, BMA had a further 17 scholars achieving a sea of grades 7-9 across the board, representing 15% of the Year 11 cohort. BMA is delighted to be welcoming the majority of them back to join the school’s Elite Scholars Sixth Form programme next academic year. They will all receive bespoke, super-curricular support to support them in securing places at top universities and apprenticeships. Some of BMA’s Year 13s this year have secured places at Durham, UCL, Kings and Lancaster University to name a few.

“Congratulations to our Year 11 scholars who have collected GCSE results. We are proud of individual achievements and of those scholars who achieved well in the face of adversity. These results reflect the hard work and resilience of our scholars, teaching by our subject experts and the excellent support provided by our Inclusion, Safeguarding, Attendance and Pastoral teams. We are excited about the next steps and destinations for our young adults and look forward to welcoming our scholars back to our Sixth Form.”

Stuart Burns, CEO at DRET, said:

“Very many congratulations to all our students collecting GCSE results today. These excellent grades reflect the hard work and dedication from our wonderful students, their teachers and indeed the whole school community.

“All of us at DRET wish our year 11s every success in whatever they choose to do next.”
