Smartphone gaming continues to grow, but which games are best?

0

A large proportion of us have experienced a wave of mobile games in our lives. From early memories of Snake to present-day options that are housed on more sophisticated smartphone devices, the mobile gaming space has reached new heights. As such, gaming on a modern-day mobile is now a genuine entertainment option that can be accessed as and when it suits someone. In fact, smartphone gaming’s portability aspect has clearly contributed to its all-around growth.

Another reason why gaming on a miniature handheld device has reached even more people is due to the extensive selection of games that can be downloaded on both iOS and Android. There are even popular browser game products, too, with mobile gamers accessing options such as Premier League fantasy football and titles like FarmVille 2 on Facebook, alongside innovative releases such as a live casino game show. For smartphone gamers, the opportunities are seemingly endless, with a suitable game being out there for pretty much everyone. There are even VR gaming products on offer, alongside a range of accessories that be purchased to improve specific titles.

With mobile gaming’s package improving on a yearly basis, below is a look at some of the top games for your smartphone right now in 2022. All of the games featured are available for download on both iOS and Android devices unless stated otherwise.

Call of Duty: Mobile

While not everyone was sold on the idea of a console classic jumping over to mobile, Call of Duty: Mobile is an undoubted success. Offering the same chaos and mayhem people expect from a Call of Duty game, alongside loads of stuff to chase and weapons to make the most of, it’s a joy to play. The controls are obviously different, too, although they’re fairly straightforward to master. Alongside a large amount of customisation on offer, you can also enjoy a range of game modes, from Death Match to Battle Royale.

Triple Agent

Incredibly similar to another game that focussed on the art of deception in Among Us, Triple Agent features two teams of players, with one team tasked with getting the other team of players to turn against each other. Fail to get it right, though, and your team could also face the consequences. A game that can be played with both friends and family members, Triple Agent is well worth experiencing.

Pokemon Go

Pokemon Go has been around for a good few years now, but it’s still one of the best games around to play on a smartphone device. Developed by Niantic, the game’s augmented reality feature is highly innovative as it enables players to venture outside in local areas as they aim to progress through the game. You can be walking in a local park and come across a nest of Pikachu. Additionally, you might live in an area that is filled with gyms you can battle. The fact that there’s a title where you can actually immerse yourself in an outdoor environment is truly amazing. It might not be new, but Pokemon Go is still well worth playing if you haven’t done so already.

Donut County

Donut County’s premise isn’t exactly complicated, but it’s a blast to session. A relaxing title, players are tasked with turning a tranquil town upside down as they wreak as much havoc as physically possible. There’s a story in the game, but the general aim focuses on destruction and the need to cause an incredibly large amount of hassle. It’s certainly fun, that’s for sure.

Other options include Monument Valley 2, The Room: Old Sins, Apex Legends and Genshin Impact.
