Burnham Waters, the new retirement community in Burnham-on-Crouch in Essex, has been shortlisted for a prestigious, national, RESI Award.
The retirement village, which offers a collection of one, two and three-bedroom bungalows set within a thriving new community has been shortlisted within the Later Living Operator of the Year category.
This award aims to celebrate the achievements of organisations within the retirement community. The Later Living category sought entrants from modern-day later-living operators who are creating schemes that are of such a high spec that they rival the finish offered by some boutique hotel group operators. As well as creating schemes that are aesthetically pleasing, the judges are also looking for organisations, which are successfully implementing intelligent design principles to make accommodation that is more adaptable and flexible to meet the growing needs of people as they age.
Judges will now commence their review of all finalists, with the winner due to be announced at an awards ceremony, taking place on 6th May 2026.
Ian Holloway, Project Director at Burnham Waters, said: “To even get shortlisted for a RESI award is an absolute honour for us and for our residents here at Burnham Waters. All of our retirement bungalows have been beautifully specified throughout, delivering properties that our residents are proud to call home. All of our bungalows have been thoughtfully designed to offer a range of features that not only make life comfortable and convenient for residents now, but the homes can adapt to meet, their owners’ ever changing needs.”
All of the homes at Burnham Waters benefit from open plan layouts, which can easily accommodate wheel chairs or walking aids, along with easily accessible wet rooms. The properties also include intruder alarms systems as well as exterior security cameras (all viewable from the intercom) and a smart lock and video intercom front door access, which offers both additional security and convenience for residents.
Each home benefits from its own private patio/terrace, while the wider grounds are maintained as part of the estate. This allows residents to benefit from the open space, without the burden of maintenance. The entire site offers level access/is step free.
The homes at Burnham Waters incorporate both electric car charging points and Air Source Heat Pumps as standard – enabling residents to reduce their energy consumption and their fuel bills too.
The first three community areas now have residents living in their new homes at Burnham Waters, and a new community is taking shape. Once complete, the wider village will offer residents access to beautifully landscaped grounds and a host of on-site amenities and leisure facilities, including shops, a café, a swimming pool with the community and sports centre, all within easy reach.
There is currently a range of one, two and three-bedroom bungalows available for sale, with homes ready to move in to.
The sales and marketing suite is open daily, 10am – 3pm.
