Local singer and musician Matt Linnen brought joy and entertainment to people experiencing rough sleeping at the annual Christmas Party held at the Bradbury Day Centre in Southend yesterday.
Matt, best known for his appearances on The X Factor and his vibrant performances across the Essex music scene, delivered an uplifting sing-along set that had attendees smiling throughout the afternoon.
The event was organised by local homelessness charity, HARP, that runs the Bradbury Day Centre – a welcoming space offering food, housing support, showers and safety, 365 days a year to people who are rough sleeping.
Guests enjoyed a warm buffet, good company, and plenty of Christmas cheer. This is ahead of Christmas dinner on Christmas day which will be served across HARP services.
“It was truly heart-warming to see everyone come together,” said Vanessa Hemmings, CEO of HARP “Sleeping on the streets is so tough, particularly at this time of year and events like this are about more than just entertainment – they’re about making people feel seen, supported and valued, especially during the festive season. Matt Linnen’s performance helped make the afternoon special, offering live music and encouraging participation from all who came along.”
HARP is raising money over Christmas to fund the Bradbury Day Centre, 365 days a year, there is still time to contribute at www.harpsouthend.org.uk.
