A young Colchester athlete is bringing the city’s fitness community together in a way it’s never seen before.
On Saturday, 1st November, 13-year-old Harry Jeffery will take on a 13–14 hour Colchester Fit-A-Thon, visiting 26 local fitness venues in a single day, from gyms and boot camps to climbing walls, yoga studios, MMA rings, Football grounds, swimming pools, and obstacle courses.
Starting at 6:00am in Heckfordbridge and finishing around 8:00pm, Harry’s goal isn’t competition, it’s connection. The challenge celebrates Colchester’s incredible network of fitness venues and encourages people of all ages to get moving, try something new, and support one another.
The route will start on Harry’s garden obstacle course in Heckfordbridge and include some of the city’s best-known locations, including Castle Parkrun, Leisure World, CrossFit Colchester, and Colchester Sports Park, among others.
Local athletes, coaches, and gym members will join him along the way, making it a true celebration of movement, teamwork, and community spirit.
The challenge aims to raise awareness of Active Essex and local opportunities for young people to get active and stay healthy.
This is a positive story of community, determination, and youth leadership, showing how one young person’s energy can help bring a whole city together.
