On 26th September, Toum – the chic French / Lebanese rotisserie chicken restaurant in Mayfair – is launching its downstairs listening bar, Encore. Maybe the trendiest spot in Mayfair, the underground bar will be serving up Arabic disco and Habibi funk beats as music lovers sip on unusual cocktails and banging bar snacks.
Having firmly secured its place as one of the top rotisserie chicken restaurants in London, Toum is adding another string to its trendy bow with the launch of its listening bar downstairs.
Open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, music lovers and foodies alike can immerse themselves in sounds of Arabic Disco, Habibi Funk, French Nouvelle Vague, Bossa Nova, jazz and blues, all whilst enjoying Encore’s cocktail menu with delicious bar snacks.
The cocktail menu – designed by award winning mixologist Jad Ballout – offers unique flavour combinations found nowhere else in London. Choose from the likes of the Open Sesame (Bulleit Bourbon, sesame, honey, smoke), the Artichoke Sour (Bombay gin, artichoke amaro, Topinambur, lemon, sugar), the Truffle Whiskey Sour (Bullet Bourbon, truffle honey, rosemary, lemon) or a Foret Noire (Cognac-washed butter, raspberry, Nutella foam, served with a spoon on the side). In addition, Encore’s house beer Noam will be available offering a natural, unfiltered larger.
For the snacks, think cheese madeleines with sour cream and (optional) Petrossian Oscietra caviar, steak tartare with brioche, pommes allumettes and cured egg yolk and Encore’s take on a buttermilk fried chicken, also with optional caviar to elevate the dish even further.
Enjoy all the cocktails and bar snacks alongside the retro sounds of the listening bar. Complete with a pair of refurbished 80s vintage Tannoy Little Gold Monitor speakers, hooked up to an Icon valve amplifier to bring out their warmth and detail, Encore is a great place to soak up the beats.
The space itself is tuned for listening pleasure complete with rich wooden wall panels, carpeted flooring and an acoustic ceiling, all working together to absorb excess echo and focus on the warm, balanced sounds of the vinyl player.
Combining the two trends of rotisserie chicken and listening bars under one roof might just pin Toum as the trendiest spot in London right now.
